The NSW Chef Association held a fundraising banquet in benefit of the Indo-Chinese Elderly Hostel on Tuesday, 28th of October. The event took place at The Eight Modern Chinese Restaurant at Market City in Haymarket and was attended by over 400 guests.
The sumptuous 8 course banquet was prepared by chefs of the NSW Chef Association who generously donated their skills and time for this event. The highlight of the menu was the delicacy known as Budha Jumps Over the Wall (佛跳墙), a special soup cooked and served to each guest in individual clay pots.
Ms Nicole He presided over the festivities as Master of Ceremonies. Speeches were given by Mr Allen Lai, President of the NSW Chef Association, and the guests of honour, The Hon. Ernest Wong, Member of the NSW Legislative Council & Honorary President of the NSW Chef Association, and Mr Amen Lee, Honorary President of the NSW Chef Association.
Guests enjoyed a noodle pulling performance by one of the chefs of the Association, and participated in karaoke performances on stage. A raffle and lucky card draw was held and drawn by VIP guests with prizes donated by various sponsors.
The Hostel and Chef Association exchanged commemorative plaques in thanks and in recogntion of our collaboration in this memorable banquet.
